Not every night out is about cheap drink deals and getting your bit. For something that will please a few of the senses, and leave you wanting more hit up Greyscale.

Dylan, who works with Greyscale designing the events, told us what the night is all about. “It aims to bring contemporary audio-visual arts to a wider audience in Dublin, and nationwide, through a series of curated events.” It is different from any other night out because of its curated nature. The night is equal parts art and music with artists from each field promoted equally. “We drew on our experiences of travelling to festivals across Europe such as Unsound in Krakow, CTM in Berlin, Future Everything in Manchester, Club2Club in Turin, GLOW in Eindhoven and Rewire in the Netherlands,” These experiences have clearly made the mark on the guys in Greyscale and you can immerse yourself a bit of each festival at their events.

If you’re looking to disrupt your routine for a night out in an unusual venue, Greyscale could be for you. The last event took place in The Pillar Room in the Rotunda Hospital.“It was a total success on every level. We called in a lot of favours and took a big gamble that ultimately paid off.”

One of the highlights of the Rotunda event was a set from Mr. Mitch. “We’ve been a fan of Mr. Mitch for some time. His pioneering work that pushes the boundaries of Grime music has been inspirational. CLU also released an EP on his label Gobstopper last year. It was a perfect fit.” The venue is of huge importance to the team of 5 at Greyscale, “It’s comforting to know that you can safely produce amazing events in really special spaces if everything is managed correctly.”

But, this isn’t some arty farty event that you’d feel uncomfortable going to. Sure, at its heart it mixes art, culture and music, but the audience is so much more than that. “Our audience consists of contemporary electronic music enthusiasts, visual and fine art communities and people sidelined by the lack of diversity across the current venue and programming landscape… we cast our net wide, and you can see this in our extremely diverse audience.”

There is a lack of events that are catered towards people who want to experience more variety from a night out, but as Dylan from Greyscale puts it, “It’s this that drives certain people to seek out different ways to entertain themselves.”

As for what the future holds? Well, keep an eye out on their Facebook page! They have a rich program in development that “will take our audience from wine bars via cultural institutions and public spaces.”
